Privacy Policy

ShopperANSWERS is conscious of everyone's right to privacy.

We are aware of our responsibilities and are fully compliant with the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993. This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by us and has been prepared in accordance with our obligations and your rights set out in the Privacy Act.

We are a market research company specializing in understanding shopper behavior within the retail environment. As the interface between shoppers and the retail environment they are shopping within; we aim to act as a voice for the shopper, keeping our customers informed of shopper feedback and insights on a regular basis.

We use video surveillance (either existing security video cameras and/or additional video cameras installed in-store) to film and record shopper behavior. When video surveillance is being used, clear signage is positioned at the store entrance and on the relevant display to ensure shoppers are aware that they are being filmed.

We also collect personal information by carrying out interviews with shoppers in the store. If we use information obtained from an interview in conjunction with a shopper's video footage, we obtain the shopper's permission to do so first.

We use the shopper information we collect from video footage and interviews to analyze shopper behaviors, focusing on the behavior, not the shopper. Information like demographics, time spent in store, areas of interest, areas of confusion, areas of stress are reported back to our brand and retail customers in order for them to improve their offering to their shoppers. Written reports and materials we provide to our brand and retail customers do not contain any personal information that identifies shoppers. We may show segments of video footage to our brand and retail customers (and potential customers) in order to highlight key findings.

We keep video files, interview data and analysis for only as long as is reasonably necessary for the research purposes for which it was collected. All video files, research and interview data is kept and stored safely at our premises.
